Find your Boudoir Style!
Let’s do things a little backwards today, and give away the ending!
You may have more than one boudoir style that you like and want to try!
That is OKAY! In fact, that is a very good thing! It makes for amazing collections of images for your album!
Finding your boudoir style sounds so easy! For some, it is. For others, they agonize over how they want to present themselves.
That’s where is comes in handy that you don’t have to choose just one style!
You can try as many as will fit in your time frame, and you can come back for another session that is completely different. All because each and every one of these styles is a whole lot of fun!
And if Boudoir is not fun, it isn’t being done right!
So, let’s ge right into the eight boudoir styles that I think will cover just about any woman’s needs.
Classic Boudoir Style:
This style of boudoir accommodates all levels of modesty. The wardrobe for this style tends to be lingerie - a classic bra and panty set, a body suit, negligees, corsets, garders, really, just about every type of lingerie you can think of, and in any and all colors! It can even include a bit of a white sheet session, which is it’s own style, but can dove tail really well here.
It can be both dark and moody lighting and light and airy lighting. It is often done with a bedroom style set, but can also include a lot of other settings.
I think what makes it classic is it is usually a pretty clean and precise combination of posing, lighting and wardrobe. You won't need a lot of props, although you are welcome to incorporate them as you want.
Your images will highlight your curves, your eyes, and your self-expression. These images will allow you to see yourself as strong and sexy, with a quite a bit of flirty playfulness thrown in!
Dark and Moody Boudoir Style:
This is that dramatic lighting, powerful posing, with some mystery thrown in. This is a great way to use those dark lingerie pieces while letting a little skim of light play across your curves.
These sessions can involve some dark props if that is your style. But honestly, your body will provide all the interest that is needed if you want to keep the focus on you and your mysterious strength.
The posing in these dark and moody sets is purposeful and clean, with only small movements making a huge difference in the results. Sometimes it is multiple angles of you in a similar pose - so quite a bit of the photographer moving around you to make the most of the way the light falls across your body.
The dark and moody style includes a lot more upclose photos, focusing on a single part of your body, with other parts of your body fading into a darker less focused background. Sometimes this mean a “body scaping” with the light highlighting artistic curve and shadow.
The results of the dark and moody style will be AMAZING! Your images will be characterized by much beautiful drama, a good deal of mystery and some intrigue and suggestion of more to come. These images will have a serious deep thinker feel, and can make some absolutely stunning statement wall art pieces.
White Sheet Boudoir Style:
These sessions are all about the clean lines, flattering soft bright light, and oh so much suggestion! They naturally incorporate the bed but can also involve poses where you are standing with the sheet draped on you, or curled in a big overstuffed chair.
This style is an amazing way to celebrate the purest form of you! Sheets will artfully drape across your body to hide just enough to leave a hint of mystery. The images we create clearly show that you have the confidence to show up just as you are! No fuss, no muss, just clean sleek beauty!
It almost goes without saying, you won’t need much lingerie for this particular style. If your modesty requires it, a pair of nude panties are great - that way, if they show they are easy to keep from being a distraction. Sometimes we can show a hip with a thin undies strap, and I can later photoshop that out to be even more suggestive of nudity, without you having to go there if that is not in your comfort zone.
These sesions are fun, giggling is welcome, and there is a whole lot of comfortable-afternoon-at-home feel to the sensuality they express.
White Shirt Boudoir Style:
Yes! That white shirt is a little unexpected with a whole lot of power.
That power component is what really distinguishes this style from the white sheet. It suggests something a little masculine in terms of the power, which is juxstaposed to everything feminine about you! It is almost as if the traditional power executive white shirt is turned into a sensual teasing prop, without giving up your femininity.
The shirt can be just a touch sheer, or not, your choice!
With the White Shirt Style, you will have clean and creative images to add to your collection. It can be as revealing or as modest as you want. It has elements of classic boudoir, while breaking out into a dramatic statement as well. It can be combine with almost any other style of boudoir while keeping a cohesive look in your gallery.
Fine Art Boudoir Style:
Oh! This is one of my favorite elements to include in my client's galleries!
It’s the little sweep of a draping cloth juxtaposed to the flow of your hair across your shoulder. The freedom to be expressive with the soft beauty of texture and movement. Think tulle and lace and florals for wardrobe and props - not too overdone, but subtly giving the artistic Parisian appeal!
This brings the playful opportunity to make something completely unexpected yet stunningly beautiful with a classic European influence! It is influenced by Paris, ballet and Monet! What could get better than that?
There is a whole lot of freedom in this style, as artistic style covers a lot of territory.
Outdoor Boudoir Style:
This style of boudoir is exciting, adventurous and incredibly powerful for all women who try it. There is a sense of accomplishment that comes from completing the hike to an amazing private vista point and going right into a celebratory photo session.
The connection with the power of creation that you get when you are surrounded by the intricate beauty of nature cannot be beat!
And there is the added thrill of a slight risk of discovery (I'm very careful in selecting locations where that is highly unlikely, but there is a slight risk).
These sessions are something that could very well change your life, while producing some of the most memorable images of yourself you will ever have.
I suggest lots of flowing wardrobe options to take advantage of the breeze. Also, time your session for sunrise or sunset so you can bask in the glow of the soft colors in the sky!
Implied Nudity Boudoir Style:
Oh Girl! You get to push the limits with this.
You will entice, suggest, and celebrate the beauty of your body in it's purest form.
We will use the subtle but strategic placement of light, shadow and sometimes clothing you to create impactful images. Your images will show the vulnerability of nudity with the confidence of control.
This amazing style can be combine with any other styles of Boudoir - and can be absolutely amazing with the Dark and Moody and white sheet styles, if you are so inclined!

You don’t need lingerie for this, although it is still allowed!
