4 ADVANTAGES TO BOUDOIR MINI-SESSIONS

It’s a Woman’s Dream and Her Biggest Fear!

Most women will admit that they see boudoir style images on social media and wonder to themselves if they did a boudoir session could they possibly look like that.

Suddenly the whole comparison game is in play!

Dark boudoir image with the light coming from the left side and a black background. The subject is a dark-haired white woman laying on her back with her hands coming up to her face and a peek of black and white body suit on her torso.

A little self-doubt creeps in. She questions her worth; and wishes she could feel the way she imagines the women in the images feel - strong, confident, beautiful, feminine, empowered, graceful.

With entry level packages starting around $1500 - if it includes a high-quality full-sized album - who can blame a woman for pushing the idea of a boudoir session away as far too risky for such a big investment?

And yet, the desire to be seen and validated as feminine is still there. Unfulfilled.

What if there was an different option?

An option that felt less risky, less of a commitment, but would still show them that they too can be the subject of beautiful intimate imagery?

Woman in long white wrap-around dress that is undone in the front, and held together with her back hand. The curve of her breasts is shown, without her nipples showing. She has dramatic dark lips and hair covers her left eye.

I’m talking about Mini-Boudoir sessions from Strong Confident Femininity.

Why do I think Mini-Boudoir sessions are a good thing for women?

I believe that, when done right, boudoir in general is good for women (a post addressing why I believe this is coming soon!) But there are four basic answers to why mini-boudoir sessions are a good thing:

  • Mini-boudoir sessions require a lower level of resource commitment from you.

  • Mini-boudoir sessions are a great Ice Breaker into the genre.

  • Mini-boudoir sessions are an opportunity to get to know me as a photographer and to see if I’m a match for you.

  • Mini-boudoir sessions can be more social – fun with your bestie kind of social!

Let’s take a closer look at each of these points separately:

1.      Mini-boudoir sessions require a lower level of resource commitment

Let’s get the big one out of the way: MONEY

When you do a Mini-boudoir session, you are looking at about 35% of the cost of a full session - $400 instead of $1450 entry level option at Strong Confident Femininity. Yes, it is true that you get less time, have to do your own hair and makeup services (or purchase that separately), and receive a smaller print product and social media gallery. But for those on a limited budget who just want to try it, this can be a far easier commitment to make. And if there is anything I value at Strong Confident Femininity it is that all women are worthy and should have access to boudoir if they desire it.

YOUR VALUABLE TIME

Since all Strong Confident Femininity sessions are, with rare exceptions, scheduled on week days, it is an advantage that mini-boudoir sessions require far less time than a full session. You’ll spend 30 minutes in front of the camera, but should plan on a 60 minute appointment in the studio for prep. Add in your travel to and from the studio, and that is far less time than the half to full day commitment for a full session. So, for those who have jobs that are less flexible, it is easier to fit these mini-boudoir sessions into your schedule.

2.      Mini-boudoir sessions are a great Ice Breaker

I know it’s true! A lot of women are curious about a Strong Confident Femininity Session and think maybe they’d like to do it, but they have a lot of questions about whether they would be comfortable, whether the images would be beautiful, and whether it would be worth the investment.

Mini-boudoir sessions are a great way to check it all out like trying a bottle of wine before your purchase the whole case!

A half-hour in front of the camera is far more user friendly for the curious woman than a full 2- to 4-hour session.

And, assuming, as I do, that you have a great time - that being in front of the camera is far more enjoyable and fulfilling than you anticipated - the mini-boudoir session lays the ground work for you to jump on in and get yourself a big beautiful album filled with images that we create through a luxurious and thoroughly uplifting full session.

I do have one caution on this – Strong Confident Femininity boudoir sessions can be addictive, and I predict you will be left wanting more!

3.      Mini-boudoir sessions are an opportunity to get to know me as a photographer.

Choosing a boudoir photographer who is right for you is super important. Looking at their style, meeting them for a cup of coffee to make sure they are your ‘cup of tea’ (sorry for the mixed metaphor there) and understanding their approach to the genre of boudoir photography can all be done before you commit to a full session.

There is nothing like having an actual taste of working with the photographer to help reassure you that you are making the right choice for your planned big investment.

4.      Mini-boudoir sessions can be more social – with friends kind of social.

Mini boudoir session can be scheduled back-to-back so that you and your bestie can come together, use the time in two half hour blocks, or mix your time together. You can do all your images solo with the ooohs and ahhhs of your friend encouraging you, or you can ‘round robin’ the time, with each of you taking turns in the different settings you choose for the hour – so you are on-again, off-again in front of the camera.

And, you can even set aside some time at the end (10 minutes would be plenty) for some best friend style images like the ones in the picture block below.

These social mini-sessions are a great way to celebrate a special accomplishment, an anniversary of your friendship, and/or memorialize a special time in life when you know things are going to be changing soon.

Best part? The giggles and fun will be multiplied exponentially by having your bestie there!

So, now you know why mini-boudoir sessions are a terrific thing! What next?

Let’s say you decide to do a mini-boudoir session. What exactly does your $400 investment get you? The basics are: 1. 30 minutes in front of the camera; 2. up to two outfits; 3. a 15 image digital gallery (sized for social media, not printing); and 4. a mini-accordion style album (3.5x2.5 inches)

Hopefully I don’t sound too much like a infomercial when I say . . .
