8 Secrets To Being More Sensual Everyday
Embracing sensuality in your everyday life is a deeply personal and transformative journey. And let me be clear, it is about a lot more than being sexual.
At it’s core, being more sensual is about connecting with your body, emotions, and surroundings in ways that ground and uplift you. It’s not about extravagance or indulgence—it’s about savoring the richness of life through simple, intentional moments. Here are some ways you can bring more sensuality into your daily life:
1. Be Mindfully Present
Sensuality begins with mindfulness. When you immerse yourself in the present moment, the world around you comes alive. Savor your coffee’s aroma, feel the texture of the breeze on your skin, or listen closely to the rhythm of your steps. Deep, intentional breathing can also anchor you in your body, connecting you with the beauty of now.
Embrace the sensual aspects of your body simply by noticing the movements and rhythm of your body’s movement and finding an appreciation for it’s beauty.
Application: Take a few moments and think about the various little curves of your body. From the arch of your foot to the curve of the bow on your upper lip, your body has curves that you can touch and take notice. Notice both the way it feels on your finger tip to trace the curve. Then, notice how the skin on the curve feels to be caressed by your finger tip. Both of these sensations are great ways to start to embrace the sensuality of your body.
2. Dress with Intention
Embracing sensuality in the way you dress can have a profound impact on how you feel. Choose fabrics and textures that feel delightful against your skin and colors that lift your spirit.
Even if no one else sees it, wearing something special, like beautiful lingerie, can be your own empowering secret—a little gift to yourself that speaks of confidence and care.
Application: I’ve told many people this story, but it really applies here: When I was about 13 my mom started to encourage me to find underwear and lingerie that made me feel beautiful - something soft, lacy, a color I loved, maybe something unexpected. The purpose of this practice was to remind me that I was/am worthy of beautiful things. To remind myself that beauty was a part of my presentation. You can do this with jewelry and fabric choices for you other clothing as well.
3. Move Your Body
Movement is a powerful way to reconnect with your sensual side. Turn on your favorite song and dance freely, or sink into the gentle stretches of yoga.
The movement does not have to be fast or slow. I needs to be what feels good to you.
These activities don’t just energize your body; they invite you to celebrate it.
Application: These movements can be tailored to your lifestyle. If you lift weights at the gym, take the time to notice the engagement of your muscles as you lift, and the difference as you let that weight back down. If you dance to music in the privacy of your home, be aware of the difference you feel swaying to a slow song verse jumping around with an energizing song.
4. Engage Your Senses
Life becomes more vibrant when you pause to enjoy it through your senses. Savor each bite of a meal, noting its textures and flavors.
Surround yourself with scents that calm or invigorate you—essential oils, fresh flowers, or your favorite perfume. Let your senses guide you to moments of quiet joy.
Application: Scents can have an enormous impact on your mood. They evoke memories, stir up energy, and can be very calming. Here are some amazing examples: Lavendar can boost your energy, help lift depression, and bring about a relaxed state; Ylang Ylang has calming impacts, has aphrodisiac properties, and helps releave stress and tension; Bergamot is a stress reliever in many ways; and Frankincense improves concentration, hand helps focus energies.. Sensuality can also be found in nature—feel the earth beneath your feet, the wind on your skin, or the sun’s warmth. These experiences ground and connect you to something larger than yourself.
